Caught by the Tides

In the early 2000s, in the industrial city of Datong, China; Qiaoqiao and Bin live a passionate love that seems to defy time and adversity. Both young and idealistic, they share their love for music, dance, and the small pleasures of life, while the city is enveloped in the first echoes of modernization that slowly transforms the country. One day, without warning, Bin decides to leave the city in search of new opportunities in a larger province, leaving Qiaoqiao devastated and without a trace of her beloved.

As the years go by, China undergoes radical changes: urbanization advances, traditional customs fade, and younger generations face an uncertain future. Amid this whirlwind, Qiaoqiao, unable to forget Bin, decides to embark on a journey through the vast and changing country to find him. Her journey takes her through dazzling cities, forgotten towns, and breathtaking landscapes, while she faces the challenges of a society that no longer recognizes the traces of her lost love.

Qiaoqiao's story is, at the same time, a personal quest and a reflection on how social and economic changes transform people, loves, and dreams. Over the years, Qiaoqiao discovers that finding Bin is not just a physical journey, but a lesson about love, resilience, and identity in a constantly evolving China.
