Cocote

'Cocote' is the story of Alberto, a gardener who returns to his hometown to attend the funeral of his father, killed by the police. The protagonist has been away from his family for a long time, mostly because he has converted to the evangelical faith, something that puts him in conflict with the semi-pagan customs within which he was raised and which his family still practices. Upon arrival, he finds two situations he does not want to be part of; On the one hand, the family prepares to start a week of prayers and rituals to dismiss the deceased and, on the other, his sister expects him to fulfill his role within the family and be responsible for avenging the death of the father. Limited by his new faith and by a rather less than ideal relationship with his father, Alberto must decide whether to stay true to his new principles or give in to the pressure of his environment.
