Trivia

The precise location of the fictional town of Walmington-on-Sea is revealed in the "Dad's Army - Official Trailer 2" by a red square marker, when a map is briefly shown pinpointing the location to be on the south coast of England, almost exactly equidistant for Brighton and Hastings or the red square markers of Portsmouth and Dover.

John Le Mesurier, the actor who played Sergeant Wilson in the original TV series, was for a time in the same class as Alan Turing (subject of "The Imitation Game") at Sherborne School, Dorset.

It is the remake of the classic sitcom Dad's Army, 1968. The series attracted 18 million viewers to its end in 1977. In 1971 the original cast made a film.
