Daughter of Rage

The Nicaraguan film-maker, Laura Baumeister, debuts in the feature film format with 'Daughter of Rage' after an extensive list of credits in short films where are included some ones like: 'Ombligo de agua', 'Isabel in Winter' or 'Fuerza bruta'.

The film is set in present-day Nicaragua. Its protagonist is called María, she is an eleven-year-old girl who lives next to a huge garbage dump. María is not alone, she lives with Lilibeth, her mother, who tries to resort to strange deals with people who are not trustworthy just to get this little and poor family forward. However, poverty forces the mother and daughter to separate. Lilibeth decides to go out of town to look for work and leaves the little girl in a recycling factory where she is forced to work from a very young age. The days passed and the mother does not return, however, María knows who will be her greatest support: Tadeo, a loyal boy who will venture with María in search of her missing mother.

Hes career in the short film format has been awarded numerous times. With this, hes first experience in the long-format format, but in its first moments of life, Laura Baumeister's film is already collecting nominations such as the LATINO Award for Best Ibero-American First Film.
