Plot
'Denial' tells the story of the fierce legal battle between Deborah E. Lipstadt, an acclaimed American historian and David Irving, a reputed Holocaust denier. During the movie we can see how Deborah ends up caught trying to prove that the Holocaust, or more specifically, the gas chambers in the concentration camp of Auschwitz, ever existed. Irving accused Lipstadt of libel, and due to a quirk of English law the accused has the burden of proof. Based upon Lipstadt's book: 'History on trial: My day in court with a holocaust denier', 'Denial' is starring by Rachel Weisz as Deborah E. Lipstadt, Andrew Scott as the historian's lawyer, Anthony Julius, and Timothy Spall in the role of David Iriving.
This film is directed by Mick Jackson and adapted for the big screen by BAFTA and Academy Award nominated writer, David Hare.

Trivia
The court scenes
The internal court scenes were filmed at County Hall in Kingston Upon Thames England. There is a recreation of the Old Bailey court there which was used as a real court until the early 90's and now is used solely for film and TV work.
'Sherlock'
Andrew Scott and Mark Gatiss have previously acted together in the BBC series 'Sherlock'. Scott plays James Moriarty and Gatiss plays Mycroft Holmes, and also co-created and produces the show with Stephen Moffat.
Verbatim
All of the dialogue in the courtroom scene was taken verbatim from the court records.
