The film focuses on the myth of Bronislawa Wajs, a famous gypsy poet and singer dubbed Papusza. Romanian origin, was considered the first gypsy poet who managed to be publicly recognized for her work in Poland, winning several awards in the early 20th century. Moreover, she will also know the drama that had to live, to be repudiated by the Roma community to which she belonged, because she was considered a traitor by revealing secrets of gypsy style-life. Papusza recounted in her writings how Gypsies suffered the Great War and poverty that had to live.

Actually she is one of the most important poets. Her poems had been translated more than five languages.
