Farewell Mr Haffmann

First historical production directed by the French filmmaker Fred Cavayé, director of thrillers such as 'Anything for Her', 'Point blank' or 'Mea Culpa' and of comedies such as 'Radin!' or 'Nothing to Hide'. Its filming, in March 2020, was interrupted just three days after it began and caused two streets in Paris, Rue Berthe and Rue Androuet in the 18th arrondissement, to be set in 1942 until June, when shooting were resumed.

Based on the play by Jean-Philippe Daguerre. Paris, 1941. François Mercier (Gilles Lellouche) is an ordinary man, whose goal is to have a quiet life, start a family with Blanche (Sara Giraudeau), the woman he loves, and live in a humble way. He is employed by the renowned jeweler Joseph Haffmann (Daniel Auteuil), a well-known Jewish man in the neighborhood. However, Germany occupies France and that forces Mr. Haffmann to come to terms with Mercier. Haffmann's intention is to flee with his family to the free zone.

However, Haffmann is unable to flee and is forced to hide in the store's basement. This forces the two men to come to an agreement, with Mercier becoming the owner of the jewelry store to avoid Nazi looting. However, what seemed like an agreement of a few months will drag on, leaving a series of consequences that will change the destiny of both men and their families.

Directed by Fred Cavayé and written by Cavayé and Sarah Kaminsky, based on Daguerre's play. 'Farewell Mr. Haffmann' stars Daniel Auteuil, Gilles Lellouche, Sara Giraudeau, Nikolaï Kinski, Mathilde Bisson, Anne Coesens, Tiago Coelho, Néma Mercier, Alessandro Lanciano and Frans Boyer.
