Funny Cow

Funny Cow is the artistic name of a working-class aspiring female comedian in Northern England during the 1970s and 1980s. In a society where there's no place for a woman, she's tasked with the true challenge of breaking through the all-male world. From her troubled childhood when she was beaten by her own father to her turbulent adult relationships with her violent husband, Funny Cow uses the raw material of her life experiences to bring her unique style of comedy to the stage. 'Funny Cow' delivers tragedy and comedy in equal measure.

Maxine Peake plays the role of Funny Cow, with Tony Pitts as her violent husband Bob who is also the screenwriter of this movie directed by Adrian Shergold. Paddy Considine is Angus and Stephen Graham her brother Mike.
