Justin Chon introduces in his third film a story about friendship in the middle of Los Angeles riots in 1992. Kamilla is an African-American 11-year-old girl who shares a strange friendship with Eli and Daniel, two Corean-American brothers who own a shoe shop in one of the neighbors of the city. While Kamilla is thinking about quitting school, the verdict of Rodney King's case unleashes the riots. In the middle of this chaos and violence situation, the three of them will be forced to defend the shoe shop from the rioters, proving that family is not just the people who shares our last name. The movie stars also director Justin Chon, Curtiss Cook Jr. and David So, introducing Simone Baker as Kamilla.

Trivia Gook

Director, writer, and lead actor Justin Chon wrote the role of Mr. Kim specifically for his father Sang Chon, but it took 3 months to convince his father to accept the role because of the nature of the film and the similarities to their own family history. The character of Daniel was written specifically for David So in order to cater to his talents as an actor, comedian, and singer. Justin was 11 years old at the time of the Rodney King L.A. riots.
