Hard Truths

Pansy is in a constant struggle with life. Her physical and mental pain never ends, and the only way she finds to relate to the world and interact with it is through anger and confrontation. This causes her to argue with everyone around her, without distinction: with her family, with the dentist, with her doctor, with the cashier at the supermarket... No one is spared.

Curtley, her husband, has given up. He cannot understand her and doesn't know how to deal with her. For his part, Moses, their son, lives in his own world. He only wanders aimlessly around the city and barely says a word. But not everything is lost. Pansy can always count on Chantelle, her loving sister, who seems to be the only one capable of understanding and helping her.

'Hard Truths' is a British drama film from 2024. The screenplay is by Mike Leigh, who is also the director. It is a story that focuses on the challenges faced by a family in a somewhat complex urban environment. The central figure, that of the mother, is played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
