The House of the Lost on the Cape

Second animated feature film by Shinya Kawamo, director of well-known animation series such as 'Noir', 'which adapts the novel 'Misaki no Mayoiga', written by Sachiko Kashiwaba. Officially presented in the Official Selection at the 2022 Annecy International Film Festival. Screenplay is written by Reiko Yoshida, screenwriter of films such as 'A Silent Voice', 'Ride Your Wave' or 'Violet Evergarden' A Despite its title, it is not related to 'The Lost Village (Mayoiga)', an animated series directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and written by Mari Okada in 2016.

After becoming homeless, Yui, a 17-year-old girl, and Hiyori, an 8-year-old girl, decide to go live with the elderly Kiwa in a mysterious house on a cape. Yui has run away from home and Hiyori has lost her voice after losing her parents in an accident. The two young girls have something in common: they are both homeless. That is when they meet a mysterious old woman, Kiwa, and decide to go live with her in an old traditional house known as Mayoiga located near a cliff and with beautiful views of the sea.

Thanks to the care of Kiwa and the Mayoiga, which is far from being an ordinary house, the wounded hearts of both begin to heal. One fine day, a group of creatures that seem to have come from a traditional tale visit Kiwa to help her investigate the paranormal phenomena that take place in the town, embarking Yui and Hiyori on an extraordinary adventure.
