Burning Hearts

In the purest style of the forbidden love of Romeo and Juliet, 'Ti mangio il cuore' tells the story of two other tragic lovers from warring families: the Malatestas and the Camporeale. Andrea is the son and heir of the Malatesta family, as much as he wants to deny it. This high-born son falls madly in love with Marilena, but there are two drawbacks: the first is that she is already married and the second is that her husband is the leader of the Camporeale, the family with which they have been at odds for many years. This forbidden love fuels the desire for war between the clans, a hatred that had been calm for years, however this rivalry will return stronger than ever, bringing the ancient conflicts between camorras to the present. Such is the anger that the Camporeale banished the one who was the wife of her leader and, far from obtaining the understanding of the other family, the Malatesta made her their prisoner, unable to communicate with her mother who is seriously injured.

'Ti mangio il cuore' is the fifth feature film by Italian director Pippo Mezzapesa. The director himself is in charge of co-writing this family drama together with Antonella Gaeta and Davide Serino. As for the cast, Elodie plays the wife and prisoner Marilena Camporeale while the other part of the couple is played by Francesco Patanè.
