I'm Still Here

This biographical drama is set in Brazil in 1971. It is based on the memoirs of novelist Marcelo Rubens Paiva, which recount how his mother, Eunice Paiva, had to join the political activism in defense of human rights when her husband, leftist deputy Rubens Paiva, was captured by the regime during the Brazilian military dictatorship.

In the midst of the military dictatorship, Eunice is forced to rebuild her life after an unjust act of violence destroys her family. The climate of repression and political instability pushes her to redefine her identity and fight to survive in a country marked by fear and oppression. The woman, caught between the pain of loss and emotional wounds, will have to confront a divided society, where personal decisions are inevitably linked to the complex political reality.

The film is written by Murilo Hauser ('La vida invisible de Eurídice Gusmão') and Heitor Lorega and directed by Walter Salles ('Estación central de Brasil'). It stars Fernanda Torres, Selton Mello, Antonio Saboia, and Fernanda Montenegro. It has received numerous nominations and awards internationally, including the Golden Globe for Best Actress for Fernanda Torres. The movie will compete for the Best Picture Prize at the 2025 Oscars event.
