It Must Be Heaven

Elía Suleiman escaped from Palestine to find a new home. His life has lead him to many places, always having his homeland in his mind. Now, he is a filmmaker looking for ways to finance his next movie.

Elía Suleiman is the main character and narrator of this comedy like story. His journey takes him from Paris to New York and Doha. However, wherever he goes racism is always there to remain him from where he came from.

'It Must Be Heaven' is a movie directed, written and starred by the palestinian filmmaker Elía Suleiman ('The Time That Remains', 'Yadon ilaheyya', 'Cyber Palestine'). In this comedy, he stands with another actors such as Ali Suliman ('Jack Ryan', 'Lone survivor', 'Body of lies') y Gael García Bernal ('Mozart in the jungle', 'Babel', 'La mala educación'). These two performers accompanies Suleiman in his absurd adventure. This silly madness can be seen when the director and García Bernal face each other.

The movie was loudly applauded in Cannes Film Festival. Among his accolades, it won the Special Mention in Cannes 2019. It also achieved the International critic's prize FIPRESCI. Futhermore, the movie was nominated to Best Picture Seville European Film Festival. 'It must be Heaven' was selected to compite in the running for the Oscars awards in representation of Palestine.
