Matty Burton is a professional boxer who after having managed to be boxing world champion is now in a stage of decline in his career. But Matty, before hanging up the gloves and leaving the boxing to be able to dedicate more time to his life and his family, decides to face one last fight to defend his title of champion once again. However, things do not go as he expected. During the fight, Matty, suffers a serious blow to his head, leaving him with serious injuries that induce him to coma, but the biggest problem for the boxer will come later. After overcoming the coma and awakening, Matty returns home and finds that things in his family have changed, which will start the real and most arduous struggle that he has had to face in his life.

Considine plays Matty Burton. Considine was born and raised in a small town in Staffordshire also called Burton (Burton-on-Trent). He also went to Burton College where he met now director; Shane Meadows. During the filming of the final fight scene the extras in the crowd would boo the referee as he stepped into the ring, the extras were told in between takes by Richard Varley that this was not common practice during a real boxing match.
