Plot
'Mamífera' is the third fiction feature film directed by Liliana Torres, in collaboration with Distinto Films and Edna Cinema. This film represents the closing of a trilogy that began in 2013 with 'Family Tour' and continued in 2021 with 'What did we do wrong?'. María Rodríguez and Enric Auquer lead the cast of this story that addresses the decision of a woman, Lola, not to be a mother by her own choice, while facing the personal and social implications of this determination in a context where Spanish law required three days of reflection before an abortion.
The plot focuses on Lola, played by Rodríguez Soto, who, supported by her partner, Bruno, played by Auquer, decides to have an abortion after accidentally becoming pregnant b>. Over the course of three days, Lola faces a series of questions and dilemmas, revealing the intimate and social difficulties associated with choosing non-motherhood.
The film's cast also includes Ruth Llopis as Judit, and other talented actors such as Anna Alarcón, María Ribera, Anna Bertran, Mireia Aixalà, Marina Rodríguez, Ann Perelló and Amparo Fernández.
For the making of 'Mamífera', Liliana Torres has compiled testimonies from various women and health professionals b>, seeking to enrich her exploration of the decision not to have children. Her goal is to destigmatize non-motherhood b> and offer support to those women who feel misunderstood by her choice. Torres, on this occasion, moves away from hybridization and the inclusion of non-professional actors, opting for a pure fictional narrative.
The film is a production in Catalan with the co-production of TV3 and the participation of RTVE, in addition to the support of institutions such as ICAA, ICEC and the Creative Europe MEDIA program. Filming began on February 28, 2024 in different locations in Barcelona, and its distribution in theaters is scheduled for April 26, by Filmax.
