Released more than twenty five years after the artist death, this first and most complete documentary about Mapplethorpe shows an unlimited access to his archives and work which have never been seen before.

Obsessed with magic, beauty and sexuality, his photoshoots were as controversial as his own reality. Alongside all the footage used for the documentary, the testimonies of the people who knew him best as his family, lovers and every artist who was ever photographed by him complete this documentary which Mapplethorpe himself is the narrator thanks to the rediscovered interviews that he once gave.
