Miriam Lies

Coproduced between The Dominican Republic and Spain, this feature film is directed by Natalia Cabral y Oriol Estrada and it tells the story of a small family whose supposedly normal life is about to be shaken when Miram (played by first time actress Dulce Rodríguez), the smallest family member, a 14 year old girl, meets her boyfriend, who she has just met on the Internet. While all the other girls her age are really excited and getting ready for the traditional 15 year old party, Miriam finds herself on a crossroads, full of doubts and fear. The young girl doesn't know how to tell her family that her boyfriend is black.

The film treats family relationships, the life and personal dramas of a teenage girl as well as the social and racial relationships on The Dominican Republic.
