Modern Loves

'Modern Loves' observes and represents interpersonal relationships in a place like Mexico City nowadays.

The new production directed and written by the Mexican creator and writer Matías Meyer presents a series of characters that have something in common: they have just suffered a loss. Armida, a matriarch of a middle-class family, has passed away and her funeral causes many family members to be forced to meet again and, therefore, to reopen matters they thought were closed.

In addition, her husband and father of several of the protagonists, suffer from Alzheimer, a detail that adds to the drama from which this story starts.

With no release date specified, this film was presented in the official selection of the Los Cabos International Film Festival in 2019.

Through the tragedy of a death, the film is making its way between black humor and comedy to show us characters like Ana or Carlos, played by Ludwika Paleta and Andrés Almeida respectively, who will have to face the truth of their family and make decisions that they thought they had left behind in the past.

Love in all its aspects is the concept of this work that has led Matías Meyers to carry out one of his most thoughtful and personal works that will be released throughout 2020.
