Mother's Baby

Julia is forty years old and is a conductor. She and George Bobe, her partner, are trying to have a child. For now, without success. That will be until Dr. Vilfort, a fertility specialist working at a private clinic called Lumen Vitae, appears in their lives to offer them new hope, an experimental procedure that could make them parents. After a successful treatment, Julia becomes pregnant. During the delivery, however, not everything goes as planned, and they have to take the baby away immediately to perform another additional treatment. Julia and her husband are left stunned, not knowing what has happened. 

Finally, the child is returned to the couple hours later, but upon his return, Julia feels strangely distant: the newborn does not cry, nor does he seem to be affected by pain. The baby will test the marriage, as she has doubts about whether the baby they have brought home is really theirs, and the father also begins to question his wife's sanity. 

Director and screenwriter Johanna Moder is at the helm of 'Mother's Baby', a slow-burn psychological horror set in an atmosphere of anguish and suspicion that keeps the viewer constantly pondering the same question: Has something truly strange happened at the clinic, something unethical, or is this madness part of Julia's postpartum syndrome?
