The problem arises when, after the initial proposal, Mother's baby proves incapable of deciding what it wants to be, why there is so much suspicion, and why there are so many axolotls (there are many of these Mexican salamanders). Everything is left hanging on the possibility of a resolution that never comes and, worse still, doesn't even matter.
