Noémie Says Yes

This fictional feature film about the world of prostitution presents Noemí, a teenager who lives in a youth center and runs away when her mother decides not to take care of her. Through her friend Lèa, she meets Zach, whom she quickly falls in love with. However, Zach tries to convince Noemí to do the same as her friend and become an escort (companion girl). This way, she can earn money to get off the streets and achieve freedom.

'Noemí Says Yes' delves into the reasons and the initiation of engaging in prostitution. In Canada, the director's home country, the average age of entry into prostitution is 15 years, a social problem that this film aims to portray and denounce, which has also been used to launch an accusation condemning the consumers of these services. Furthermore, this social drama takes place during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal, which is the time when prostitution is most offered and consumed.

Therefore, it is a film that invites viewers to reflect and reconsider where we are headed as human beings. But not only that, it also reflects on the limits of consent. As the title indicates, Noemí said yes to providing sexual services, but what is the value of that "yes"? Did she really want that? If she hadn't come from a vulnerable situation, would she have said "yes"? And most importantly, does that yes... justify the violence, abuse, and manipulation she is subjected to?
