Paula

Based on real events. Set in between the 19th Century and the 20th Century, 'Paula' follows the story of the german artist Paula Modersohn-Becker, one of the greatest representatives of expressionism in painting. Due to the short life she got to live, since she died at the age of 31 by an embolia, this movie focuses on her biggest stage of her artistic career: when she lived in Worpswede, Germany; and when she lived in Paris, France. One of the strongest points of this movie, besides portraying the artistic values of Paula and deepening in her relationship with her family and other artists and poets, is to represent the systematic discrimination against women in the world of arts, and how Paula managed to overcome these obstacles in order to become one of the greatest representatives of german expressionism of all times.
