Private Desert

This feature film, directed by Aly Muritiba, tells us the story of Daniel, a police academy instructor who is now suspended from his profession. Daniel struggles to take care of his father, who suffers from an illness that makes him depend on the care of his son. We will soon notice that the young Brazilian is quite introspective and does not usually smile much, except when he has conversations with Sara, the girl with whom he has fallen in love. However, Daniel doesn't know Sara in person, since she lives in Sobradinho, a small city 3,000 kilometers away from our protagonist's house. Daniel lives in Curitiba, the coldest city in the Amazonian country, a city inhabited mainly by descendants of Polish and Ukrainian citizens. The online relationship between Sara and Daniel seems to be perfect, until one day, Sara stops answering Daniel's messages and disappears from her life without any explanation. The young boy, anguished and desperate, decides to undertake the journey and cross Brazil to go in search of his beloved. 'Private Desert' recounts Daniel's journey, a journey of 3,000 kilometers, a journey dominated by the heart of our protagonist and a triumphant victory of love and humanity. A film that was selected by Brazil for the Oscars.
