Scarlet Street

Chris Cross is a 25 years old cashier on a shoestring in 'Scarlet Street'. One day, he rescues a woman named Kitty, who is threatened by her boyfriend, Johnny. He takes advantage of his hobby as painter and he makes her believe he is a wealthy artist. Johnny sees the chance to make some money and gets him an apartment where Chris could paint, and then he'll sell the paintings with Kitty's name. Fritz Lang directs this film-noir starring Edward G. Robinson, Joan Bennett and Dan Duryea. 'Scarlet Street' is based on the novel 'La Chienne'.
