Shepherds

'Until the Mountain' is the new film by Canadian filmmaker Sophie Deraspe, author of other titles such as 'Les Loups' or 'Antigone'. In line with her previous projects, 'Until the Mountain' is a very intimate drama filmed and written in naturalistic and realistic codes featuring Félix-Antoine Duval and Solène Rigot as the protagonists. Duval plays Mathyas, an advertising executive from Montreal, who after going through a health issue leaves his life in Canada and starts anew as a shepherd in the French Alps, completely reinventing his entire existence up to that point. There, after a challenging start, he joins Élise (Solène Rigot), a civil servant whom Mathyas convinces to spend a summer together in the mountains. With only the company of a dog and several hundred sheep. 

'Shepherds' has been greatly praised by critics, with several nominations at festivals and various awards. For the film's script, Sophie Deraspe has adapted a novel by Mathyas Lefebure, also a Canadian writer. 

In the cast, alongside Duval and Rigot, we find other figures such as Aloïse Sauvage, Guilaine Londez, Younès Boucif, David Ayala, Luc Palun, and Bruno Raffaelli. All of them make up a mainly French and Canadian cast. 

The feature film by Sophie Deraspe is distributed in Spain by Surtsey Films and will hit theaters on December 12, 2025.
