Plot
Miguel (David Verdaguer) is a young landscape architect in the midst of professional and personal excitement. Accompanied by his girlfriend Marta (Amaia Salamanca), he travels to Brussels to attend a prestigious architecture conference where he will present an innovative urban project. However, what seemed to be a promising trip turns into a vital turning point: suddenly, his relationship with Marta breaks irreversibly, leaving him emotionally devastated and aimless.
Confused and heartbroken, Miguel decides to stay a few more days in Belgium, seeking time and space to process the end of an important chapter in his life. Lost in a foreign city and surrounded by a language he does not master, he begins to wander physically and emotionally through unknown territory. It is then that he meets Olga (Isabelle Renauld), a mature and enigmatic woman who works as a volunteer at the conference organization.
Olga, with her serene calmness and clear-eyed perspective on life, becomes an unexpected source of support. Through long conversations, shared silences, and small gestures of complicity, Miguel begins a process of inner reconstruction. She offers him a new perspective on love, failure, and the possibility of starting over. What seemed like a pause in his routine transforms into a revealing experience that forces him to redefine his idea of success, companionship, and the future.
An intimate and subtle story about collapse and reinvention. A sensitive portrait of emotional grief, vulnerability, and the human capacity to adapt and find beauty even in the midst of chaos. With an honest and poetic gaze, David Trueba adapts his own novel to offer us a tale about loss, chance, and new beginnings.
