The Boy with Pink Trousers

'The Boy with Pink Trousers' is a film directed by Margherita Ferri based on true events. 

It harshly and sensitively portrays adolescence marked by the violence of rejection. The story follows Andrea Spezzacatena, a 15-year-old boy trying to fit in at his new school, maintain good grades, and lead an apparently normal life alongside his family and friends. However, everything changes due to an insignificant gesture: a pair of red pants that, after a washing mistake, turn pink.

This seemingly trivial detail becomes the trigger for a spiral of bullying and cyberbullying that grows day by day. The mockery, comments, and social pressure begin to isolate Andrea, pushing him into an increasingly deep silence. In an environment where difference is punished, the color of his pants comes to symbolize something much larger: suspicion, mockery, and the violence associated with anything perceived as “different,” including the latent homophobia among his peers.

As the bullying intensifies, Andrea faces devastating loneliness. Unable to share what is happening to him and trapped between the need to fit in and the pain of feeling singled out, his inner world begins to crumble. The film not only depicts individual suffering but also the collective blindness that allows these dynamics to perpetuate, even when they occur in plain sight.

It reconstructs the story of a teenager whose life was marked by social rejection, becoming a testimony and a plea against bullying and structural violence in youth.
