The Empire

''The Empire'' is a tragicomedy that draws inspiration from current social situations and narrates them through science fiction to highlight the absurdity of human beings in certain moments of tension.

In a small and quiet fishing village in France, an event occurs that would completely change the lives of its inhabitants. A special baby is born, Freddy has an extraordinary nature. He is the legitimate son of demonic forces; however, he has been conceived by two normal humans.

Unbeknownst to them, this has triggered a war between two interplanetary empires: the Empire of Good, led by a galactic queen, and the Empire of Evil, led by Beelzebuth.

The director, Bruno Dumont references real life: constant wars and ideological clashes. To do this, he draws inspiration from characters of two cinematic genres. On one hand, there are the superheroes of science fiction; on the other hand, the antiheroes of naturalism characteristic of the social chronicles of auteur cinema make their presence felt.
