Plot
Enrico Berlinguer, the general secretary of the Italian Communist Party from 1973 to 1978, is the protagonist of this Italian film directed by Andrea Segre and starring Elio Germano. The feature film focuses on the moment when the charismatic and popular political leader was on the verge of bringing the Communist Party of Italy to power in 1978 through an alliance with the Christian Democracy party. An event that never occurred due to the kidnapping and assassination of Aldo Moro, the leader of the Christian Democrats. This event turned the situation 180 degrees and ultimately frustrated what would have been a radical change in the country's history and global geopolitics.
Marco Pettenello and Andrea Segre adapt this story in a co-production involving several countries, including Italy, Bulgaria, and Belgium. With the work of production companies such as Jolefilm, Vivo Film, Rai Fiction, Tarantula, Agitprop, and the Ministry of Culture, while Lucky Red and Fandango Produzione are responsible for its distribution.
Stefano Abbati, Francesco Acquaroli, Fabio Bussotti, Paolo Calabresi, Roberto Citran, Pierluigi Corallo, Nikolay Danchev, Svetoslav Dobrev, Luca Lazzareschi, Lucio Patané, Andrea Pennacchi, Paolo Pierobon, Elena Radonicich, Fabrizia Sacchi, Giorgio Tirabassi, Alice Airoldi, and Giada Fortini complete the cast of the film.
