The Pickup

'The Pickup' is an American action comedy directed by Tim Story with a script by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. It is starred in and produced by Eddie Murphy through his company Eddie Murphy Productions, along with Amazon MGM Studios for Amazon's streaming platform, Prime Video. It premieres worldwide on August 6, 2025, with quite negative reviews.

In the film, Russell Pierce and Travis Stolly are two employees of a security company who meet for the first time during their workday in charge of an armored truck. Pierce is a veteran who is about to retire and wants to spend his anniversary day with his wife, while Stolly is a rookie who aspires to become a police officer one day.

The truck suffers an unexpected robbery that the pair manages to handle as best as they can: although they "take down" two of the robbers, the third manages to catch up with them. The culprit is none other than Zoe, a dangerous criminal who flirted with Stolly the night before and he told her all the secrets of his job. Now, Zoe wants the pair to help her steal 60 million dollars from a casino, or she will end the life of Pierce's wife, whom she has kidnapped.

Filmed in Atlanta, the movie features a cast that includes Pete Davidson, Keke Palmer, Eva Longoria, Andrew Dice Clay, and Jack Kesy, among others. Rated as "one of the worst movies of the year", critics do not hesitate to praise the cast, although they highlight the strange chemistry between Davidson and Murphy, the two leads.
