Plot
Quoyle decides to give a radical change to his life the day his ex-wife dies in a traffic accident. Filled with sadness and anger, he moves with his aunt and his young daughter to Terranova, the land of his ancestors. Once there, he gets a job as a journalist in the newspaper of the region, The Gammy Bird. Then he begins to experience new and unknown feelings when he writes articles in the publication. He feels like a new man. In addition, he begins to fall in love with Wavey, a woman who also has her own problems and ghosts. All of these changes in the life of Quoyle will cause a deep transformation. 'The Shipping News' is a 2001 drama film directed by Lasse Hallström and is based on the Pulitzer prize-winning book by Annie Proulx.
