Dr. Malcom Crowe is a famous child psychologist obsessed with the painful memory of a young unbalanced patient who was unable to help. Cole Sear is a terrified and confused eight year old boy that needs treatment, Dr. Crowe sees the opportunity to redeem himself doing everything possible to help. Cole is at first very reluctant to help the psychologist, but gradually, is trusting the doctor, who's just trying to help.
