Plot
Narrates the thrilling and heartbreaking true story of Mark Kerr (Dwayne Johnson), an early legend of mixed martial arts and a key figure in the creation of the UFC phenomenon. In the early days of this violent and chaotic sport, Kerr emerges as an unbeatable warrior, accumulating victories and titles with a crushing strength that earns him the nickname "The Smashing Machine." However, behind the invincible icon lies a vulnerable man, marked by his insecurities, physical pain, and the constant pressure to stay on top.
The film follows his meteoric rise as a two-time UFC champion and his subsequent fall, trapped between addictions, injuries, and an industry that does not forgive weakness. At the center of his personal struggle is Dawn Staples (Emily Blunt), his partner and main emotional support, whose unwavering faith and sincere love become the anchor that keeps him standing. Together, they face the highs and lows of success, while Mark's body and mind deteriorate due to the extreme sacrifice that living to fight entails.
Directed with rawness and humanity, 'The Smashing Machine' is not just a story of combat, but an intimate portrait of a man who challenged his physical and mental limits in search of redemption. A film that explores glory, the price of fame, and the power of resilience, based on real events that resonate with brutal honesty.
