The Wonderland

Akane is a girl without any self-confidence. The day before her birthday, the teenage girl is sent by her mother to visit her aunt Chii's antique store. There, Akane meets the mysterious alchemist Hippocrates and his student Pipo, both of whom confess that they are on a risky mission to save the world from ruin. After pleading with her relentlessly, Akane is finally convinced to get involved in the cause, travelling to the magical world of "Wonderland" with them. "Wonderland" turns out to be dream universe full of fantastic creatures and incredible places. Amidst the fantasy, Akana must undertake a series of daring and risky adventures that with lead to the recognition of Akane as the true savior of a world living in very grave danger: a mysterious force has unleashed a severe crises within "Wonderland" that is causing this magical alternate universe to lose its colours.

'The Wonderland' is the newest film from the well-known Japanese director Keiichi Hara ('Coo's Summer', 'Colorful', 'Miss Hokusai'). The film has participated in several international festivals such as the Annecy Animation Film Festival or the Sitges Film Festival. It has been well received by the vast majority of critics and has established itself as one of the best anime films of the whole year 2019.
