Plot
Based on the novel by Benito Perez Galdos, marked Luis Buñuel's come-back to Spain after spending nine years of scandal 'Viridiana'. Tristana is a young girl who is orphaned and went to live with her uncle Don Lope to Toledo. Her uncle is obsessed with the young girl, feeling can still seduce the girl, she makes her lover Tristana from the 19 to 21 years. Considered by Don Lope as his daughter and his wife at the same time, Tristana wants to study music and art to become independent. This is how she meets Horace, a Bohemian painter who is temporarily staying in the city. Madly in love, the couple flees to Madrid to make a better life. However, misfortune will fall on Tristana, who will develop cancer in the knee and as a result will have a leg amputated. This will make the young girl have to go back to the mansion of Don Lope, to the prison from which she came.
