Plot
In 1307, the Holy Roman Empire of William is increasingly weakened, prompting new nations to seek control over Central Europe. The Austrians have decided to begin their conquest of Switzerland, bringing their large armies to fight for the takeover of what was a peaceful country. William Tell is a Swiss hunter who vowed never to use violence again after fighting in the Crusades, but after Governor Gessler forces him to shoot an arrow at an apple on his son's head for not bowing down, he decides to take revenge for the suffering of his people.
Despite being captured, Tell manages to escape from the Austrian warriors and, fearing for the safety of his family, the hunter not only commits to joining the forces against Gessler, but he will lead a revolution with the intention of keeping his family safe and ensuring the independence of his country for future generations. His great combat skills and marksmanship with the crossbow will leave Austria with no choice but to attempt to hunt down the new leader of the Swiss revolution.
The film based on the Swiss legend is directed and written by Nick Hamm and stars Claes Bang ('The Northman') as William Tell and Connor Swindells ('Sex Education') as Governor Gessler.
