'Bohemian Rhapsody': Can Anybody Find Me a More Awkward Fan Encounter With Rami Malek?

With the recent release of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' in cinemas, Rami Malek is one of the most sought after actors at the moment. One young fan recently spotted Malek on the street and decided to ask him to record a video for her. What at first seems like an innocent encounter between the actor and fan, quickly became an extremely uncomfortable situation for her.

In the video, which she later uploaded to Twitter captioned "this is probably the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me", the fan is seen preparing her mobile for a selfie, asking Malek if he could say hello to her friends. The actor refused, but conceded to offering a selfie instead.

The reactions on Twitter have not stopped. Many fans saw Malek's response as rude and standoffish, while others came to the defense of the 'Mr. Robot' actor, saying that he handled the situation in a friendly way. Others, as always on Twitter, took advantage of the situation to create memes.

Malek chose to respond in Vanity Fair to this viral controversy, saying: "I finally brought myself to watch he viral video]. I thought, 'Oh, that's not that bad. I don't find myself offensive.' [...] I am happy to take photos with anyone. I just want to be aware of what people are doing in the moment. When someone films you automatically, it's a bit intrusive."

Rami Malek on Track for an Oscar?

Despite the disappointing initial reviews of 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which were not as positive as expected, the press have been united in the opinion that the best part of the whole film was Malek in the role of Freddie Mercury. His surprising transformation has even put him in the group to be nominated for best actor in the next Academy Awards, which will be celebrated on 24th February 2019.
