Russell Crowe is the latest big Hollywood name to undergo a radical physical change in order to get himself into character, joining the long list of actors and actresses who have totally changed their appearance to the point of being unrecognisable (the master of which, of course, being Christian Bale with examples such as 'American Hustle' or 'Batman').

The Loudest Voice Russell Crowe

The New Zeland-born actor is to be playing the role of Roger Ailes, one of the most infamous American television producers in history, in the new series, 'The Loudest Voice'. Buried under several layers of makeup, a bald-cap and and enormous glasses, Crowe is completely unrecognisable. Thanks to the incredible skills of makeup artists and prosthetics, the actor successfully achieves the appearance of having gained a great deal of weight.

The Loudest Voice' is based on real events and will be streamed on the US network Showtime with Jason Blum's Blumhouse studios behind the production. According to information from The Hollywood Reporter, the mini series of eight episodes will explore in depth the last years of Ailes' career, focusing on the sordid accusations of sexual abuse which ended his career.

A Stellar Cast

Despite all the attention which Crowe is receiving for his incredible physical change, the actor is not the only star to be joining the cast of 'The Loudest Voice'. Other well known faces include Seth MacFarlane, Sienna Miller, Simon McBurney and Annabelle Wallis.

Naomi Watts will also have a main role as the Fox News presenter, Gretchen Carlson, one of the fundamental keystones in the ultimate downfall of Ailes. Carlson was one of the first women to take a step forward, which cost her her job after having rejected the man's sexual advances.

At the moment, Showtime has not offered any details about the streaming dates of 'The Loudest Voice'.
