'Down There' focuses on Iñaki, a Basque who has never left the Basque Country and will do so for the first time when he has to accompany his mother, Maritxu, on a trip from Imserso to Seville. Iñaki, who is over thirty, still lives at his mother's house and works at the bar he inherited from his father, where he meets with his lifelong friends; at the bar works Nekane, a waitress who is completely in love with her boss.

In Seville, Maritxu suffers an accident that leaves her in a coma and forces her to stay at the Híspalis hospital, where Carmen is the head nurse. Carmen and Iñaki will begin to feel attracted to each other, which will add to the Basque staying longer in the Andalusian capital.

The series was created by Jon Plazaola and José Luis Moreno, and produced by Mediaset España in collaboration with Plano a Plano. It premiered on Antena 3 in January 2015 and had six seasons until its end in 2019. Down There stood out for its combination of comedy and cultural contrast between the Basque Country and Andalusia, using stereotypes and linguistic and social differences to generate comedic situations. The series had a notable impact on Spanish television, becoming a ratings success and consolidating its main actors as very popular faces within the national landscape.

The main cast included Jon Plazaola as Iñaki, María León as Carmen, Silvia Alonso as Nekane, Antonio Molero as Genaro, and Itziar Atienza as Maritxu. The actors and the use of real locations in Seville and the Basque Country brought authenticity and dynamism to the story, while the mix of humor, romance, and social criticism made the series connect with a wide audience.

'Down There'  became a reference for Spanish comedy in the 2010s, noted for its wit, visual and verbal gags, and its ability to sympathetically showcase the cultural richness and peculiarities of two very different regions of Spain.
