Sinopsis

Angel is an American television series that follows the adventures of the first vampire with a human soul, who in his quest for redemption decides to fight on the side of good and move to Los Angeles to defeat his enemies.

The series is a sequel to 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', created by Joss Whedon and premiered in 1999, along with the fourth season of its predecessor. With the help of old friends from Sunnydale, Buffy's neighborhood, as well as new allies, Angel founds Angel Investigations, a company specializing in solving supernatural cases, helping the most defenseless in the city, and thus restoring the faith of souls that have lost their way in life.

The series was produced by Mutant Enemy and 20th Century Fox Television, with Joss Whedon, David Greenwalt, and David Fury as the main executive producers. It had five seasons and a total of 110 episodes, aired between 1999 and 2004. It stood out for its darker and more adult tone compared to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, exploring themes of redemption, guilt, and morality while maintaining supernatural elements, action, and drama. The series had a significant impact on popular culture, consolidating the expanded Buffy universe and broadening the fan base of the characters and vampire lore.

The main cast was led by David Boreanaz as Angel, alongside Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia Chase, Alexis Denisof as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, J. August Richards as Charles Gunn, and Amy Acker as Fred Burkle. The series also featured appearances from recurring characters from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', strengthening the connection between the two and offered a more complex narrative within the universe created by Whedon.

With its mix of supernatural drama, action, and character development, Angel managed to differentiate itself from other vampire series of the time, becoming a reference within television in the late 90s and early 2000s, and it is still remembered as one of the most successful and acclaimed sequels of a shared television universe.
