The looks of Captain Planet are inspired by the DC Comics character Captain Atom.

Oceania is the only continent from which there is not a planeteer with a ring granting a specific power.

Captain Planet's color scheme is based on the rings' colors, thus emphasizing the fact that he is the combination of the five powers.
