Sinopsis
'CSI: Miami' is an American police procedural series that premiered in 2002 as the first direct spin-off of 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'. It was created by Anthony E. Zuiker, along with Carol Mendelsohn and Ann Donahue, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television for the CBS network, establishing itself as one of the most successful television franchises of the 2000s. The series aired for ten seasons and concluded in 2012 with a total of 232 episodes.
Set in the city of Miami, it follows the work of the forensic scientists of the Miami-Dade Police Department, specializing in solving crimes through the analysis of physical evidence, advanced technology, and meticulous reconstructions of events. Leading the group is Horatio Caine, a calm, relentless, and deeply moral investigator, portrayed by David Caruso, whose figure became one of the great icons of popular television.
The main cast is completed by Emily Procter as ballistics specialist Calleigh Duquesne, Adam Rodríguez as fingerprint expert Eric Delko, Khandi Alexander and later Eva LaRue as forensic doctor Natalia Boa Vista, along with Jonathan Togo, Rex Linn, and Omar Benson Miller, among others. Throughout its seasons, the series combined self-contained plots with the personal conflicts of the characters, and explored themes such as corruption, drug trafficking, organized crime, and the social tensions typical of a multicultural city like Miami.
'CSI: Miami' was a ratings phenomenon, ranking among the most-watched series on American television for several seasons and achieving enormous international exposure. Its visual style (saturated colors, quick cuts, and constant use of rock and electronic music) helped differentiate it from the rest of the franchise and set trends in the genre. Additionally, it played a decisive role in popularizing the figure of the forensic scientist in television fiction, influencing both other series and the social perception of police work.
