House of Lies

'House of Lies' is an American TV series created by Matthew Carnahan and produced by Showtime Networks to air on the Showtime network. It is based on the book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You The Time' written by Martin Kihn.

The series follows the personal and professional life of a group of management consultants who will stop at nothing to achieve the deals they have set out to make. From aggressive to manipulative and unethical tactics, everything to survive in the competitive American business world.

Through satire and dark humor, we delve into a critical look at corporate capitalism and the culture of large consulting firms.

The group is led by Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle, 'Iron Man 2'), a manipulative consultant. He is joined by Jeannie van der Hooven (Kristen Bell, 'Veronica Mars'), Clyde Oberholt (Ben Schwartz, 'Parks and Recreation'), and Doug Guggenheim (Josh Lawson, 'The Librarians'). 

One of the main features of this fiction is its ability to break the fourth wall and speak directly to the audience. Through this technique, it explains strategies, mocks the system, or makes the audience complicit in its manipulations. This is accompanied by scene freezes, creating a moment where only the character and the viewer exist: a secret in front of the other characters.

'House of Lies' had a significant impact due to its unconventional approach to corporate drama. Additionally, Don Cheadle's performance was particularly celebrated, to the point of winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical Series. This solidified the series as one of the most daring and biting offerings of the network in the 2010s.
