Randy Harrison ('Queer as folk') auditioned for two roles on the show, but was deemed too old for the role of Patrick, and not old enough for the role of Dom.
Russell Tovey originally auditioned for the role of Patrick, but was unsuccessful. After the show got picked up, the character of Kevin was written with him in mind.
After canceling the show after its second season, HBO announced that it will produce a special TV movie in 2016 for the series. It will be two hours in length and will serve as the series finale.
