Major Crimes

'Major Crimes' is a spin-off of ‘The Closer’ (a series starring Kyra Sedgwick, who no longer appears in this new fiction). 

‘Major Crimes’ stars Mary McDonnell, who takes up the mantle and follows in the footsteps of her predecessor. The series was created by James Duff and produced by Warner Bros. Television for the TNT network, and it was established as a natural and coherent continuation of the original narrative universe.

With the departure of Brenda Leigh Johnson, the Los Angeles Police Department must adapt to the arrival of the new chief, Captain Sharon Raydor. Her working style is very different from that of her predecessor, as Raydor strongly advocates for teamwork and inter-departmental cooperation, something that initially creates tensions within the unit.

This change causes constant clashes with veteran Lieutenant Louie Provenza, who finds it difficult to follow the orders of a leader he considers unprepared for the position. However, over time, Raydor must earn the respect of her team by demonstrating her professional and personal capabilities.

‘Major Crimes’ follows the joint work of the Los Angeles police department and the district attorney's office to investigate the most complex crimes occurring in the city, which focuses not only on solving cases but also on the legal, moral, and emotional consequences of each investigation.

The series had six seasons, which aired between 2012 and 2018, and was very well received by both audiences and critics, noted for its more human and reflective tone compared to other police fictions. Thanks to its impact, it had a solid and loyal audience, and kept Sharon Raydor as one of the most relevant female characters in the television crime genre.

The cast includes actors such as G.W. Bailey (Louie Provenza), Tony Denison (Andy Flynn), Michael Paul Chan (Mike Tao), Raymond Cruz (Julio Sanchez), Phillip P. Keene (Buzz Watson), Graham Patrick Martin (Rusty Beck), and Jonathan Del Arco (Dr. Morales), which helped achieve continuity and depth, allowing the series to evolve without losing its identity.
