Olive's husband, Henry (Richard Jenkins) is a kind and considerate man who runs a pharmacy in the town center. On the other hand, their troubled son, Christopher (John Gallagher Jr.), a podiatrist by profession, maintains a conflicted relationship with his mother that carries emotional repercussions extending into adulthood.
What completes this family that revolves around the tormented Olive, a woman who has been suffering from depression her entire life.
This sorrow, dominated by jealousy and unease, continues to provoke all kinds of clashes with everyone around her, turning Olive into a figure as harsh as she is deeply vulnerable.
In addition to starring in the miniseries, Frances McDormand serves as the executive producer of this HBO offering, developed by Jane Anderson and directed by Lisa Cholodenko.
