Biography
Milly Alcock, whose full name is Amelia May Alcock, was born in Sydney on 11 April 2000. This Australian actress knew very early on what she wanted to do: she dropped out of her performing-arts high school in order to act and gradually cut her teeth on her country's television, until a dragon changed her life.
From Australian television to Westeros
After several years stringing together roles in Australian series such as 'Janet King', 'Pine Gap' and 'A Place to Call Home', her big springboard was the dramedy 'Upright', which earned her an AACTA nomination. But the role that changed everything was that of the young Rhaenyra Targaryen, the dragon-riding princess, in HBO's phenomenon 'House of the Dragon' (2022). Although she appeared only in the first episodes, before the story's great time jump, she won audiences over and earned a Critics' Choice nomination.
The leap to Hollywood and Supergirl's cape
Her talent was quick to catch Hollywood's eye. She starred in the Netflix series 'Sirens' (2025), playing Simone DeWitt alongside some big names, and shortly afterwards landed one of the most coveted roles of the moment: Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, in the new DC cinematic universe. After a surprise cameo in 'Superman' (2025), she stepped into the spotlight headlining her own film, 'Supergirl' (2026), and will don the heroine's cape again in 'Man of Tomorrow' (2027).
A star with her feet on the ground
Despite the meteoric nature of her rise, Alcock tries to keep her feet on the ground and her private life away from the noise, and she has not hesitated to speak frankly about the pressure of such sudden fame. From dropping out of school in Sydney to wearing the cape of one of the most iconic superheroines in comics, hers has been a textbook whirlwind. Are we looking at Hollywood's next big star?
