Trailer 'California Schemin'' (2025)

The trailer for 'California Schemin'' introduces James McAvoy's feature directorial debut, an actor best known for his work in productions such as 'Atonement' and the 'X-Men' franchise. The film is a British biographical comedy that explores the music industry from the unlikely angle of a group of Scottish rappers willing to do whatever it takes to break into a business that seems to have no place for them.

The trailer opens with the group performing live, announcing themselves to the audience as being from California. From that very first moment, it makes the central thread of the story abundantly clear: deception as a survival strategy. Through lines such as "we need to walk, talk... be American" and "why don't we just lose the Scottish accent?", the trailer builds a story of identity and ambition in which the pretence ultimately takes on a dimension the protagonists had never bargained for.

As for the cast, James McAvoy takes on both the directing duties and one of the lead roles, playing the character of Gav. He is joined by James Harkness, Lucy Halliday, Amber Anderson, and Elijah Cook, who round out the core of the group and their immediate circle.
