Trailer for 'Nika & Madison', a Canadian crime thriller directed by Eva Thomas and starring Ellyn Jade and Star Slade.
The trailer for 'Nika & Madison' introduces the new crime thriller from Canadian director Eva Thomas, a film that places at its centre the relationship between two women bound by family ties and confronted with the consequences of an act that puts them squarely in the sights of the law.
The preview opens with an atmosphere of restrained tension, depicting the reunion of two women who share a history that remains far from resolved. Through the dialogue, the trailer reveals how a situation that begins as an everyday confrontation escalates into a serious incident involving a police officer left in a coma.
The footage alternates between intimate scenes between the two leads and sequences of police pressure and a search through the woods, building a narrative in which the women's claims of self-defence and their credibility as the accused are called into question. The central question driving the trailer is blunt: who is going to believe them? The trailer also points to an indigenous community context, with explicit references to the reservation and the tensions surrounding the investigation.
The cast is led by Ellyn Jade and Star Slade in the roles of Nika and Madison respectively.
